Ice Hockey Checking
body checking (hockey)?
so im 3rd year midget next year and i would like to improve on my hitting
im good at hipchecking and angling but im not good at open ice hitting, and bodychecking
is there any tips (preferably from hockey players) on how to improve my body checking?
also im fast, light, relitavaly small, so thats why im asking (i hit people that i know i can hit)
also- is there any excersizes i can do at the gym to benefit hitting? like which muscels?
Okay, I have played D my entire life, and I always played against older, bigger kids. My keys to hitting are:
1) Line em up- you said you are good at angling them, so you will do fine at this, but it just takes practice. There is no 1 formula that works for everyone
2) Aim 5 feet behind them- once you have lined up your guy, and you are prepared to hit, remember to aim 5 feet behind them. I learned this from karate, like when you see tiny asians chop 2×4′s in half, the key is to aim behind the target. This allows you to really follow through and steam roll them
3) Finish them- drop your shoulder, bend your knees, and once you are about to make contact, explode with your knees and shoulder into them. Extending your arms out helps as well, just dont jump or extend elbows, or else youll injure your target (and be penalized)
Exercises: Take a medicine ball and just jump. Also you can do calf raises and bench press. One of the biggest parts to hitting is how much you weigh, so muscle anywhere helps. More momentum transferred into your target

Im applying for a job at a local grocerie store and i am wondering what the objective is ? is it why are you applying. This is what i have so far!

Why don’t schools and colleges support hockey?
Why don’t a lot of schools sponsor Ice Hockey when it is a popular sport, much more popular than track, cross country, swimming, and where I come from (Western Pennsylvania), Baseball and Basketball. Is it the costs associated with ice hockey? I don’t play hockey at all though I am a fan of the sport, but I always wondered why Hockey is a “club sport”. I know some schools do sponsor hockey, but many don’t. I think this causes a lot of people to be unable to play it because when it is a club sport it so expensive to play. I know a lot of people to play hockey so it can’t be lack of interest.
